The primary goal of Junior Secondary education is to broaden the learner's horizon and help them discover their talents before specialization. Key objectives include:
Talent Identification & Pathway Preparation: Exposing learners to a wide range of subjects to help them make informed choices for the three Senior Secondary pathways: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science.
Competency Consolidation: Deepening the seven core competencies (communication, critical thinking, creativity, citizenship, digital literacy, self-efficacy, and learning to learn) through practical application.
Holistic Development: Fostering physical, emotional, and social maturity to prepare adolescents for the rigors of senior school and adulthood.
Practical Skill Acquisition: Moving beyond theory to equip learners with pre-technical, agricultural, and life skills necessary for self-reliance and vocational readiness.
National Assessment Readiness: Preparing learners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) at the end of Grade 9, which determines progression to Senior School.
